Dutch act Nemesea have delivered some pretty catchy stuff on their latest album for Napalm Records, titled Uprise. The trio, fronted by the gorgeous vocalist Manda Ophuis and also featuring HJ on guitars, keyboards, and vocals, and Sonny Onderwater on bass & keyboards, play a melodic blend of rock, alternative, metal, goth, and electronica, their sound instantly accessible and enjoyable. Manda's angelic vocals suck you right in, and she's supported by crunchy guitar riffs, a wealth of keyboards, and memorable melodies. It's a winning formula, and there's one hook laden rocker after another here on Uprise, whether it be "Hear Me", "Forever", "Time to Make It", "Can't Believe It", or the irresistible ballads "Let It Burn" and "Light Up the Sky". I dare anyone to resist the urge to get up and groove to the upbeat "Get Out" or the soulful "Hold On", two songs which could have massive appeal. That's kind of the overall feel here on Uprise, an album that, in a perfect world, would be taking the universe by storm. Outstanding vocals, ultra catchy hooks, crisp musicianship, and a general 'feel good' vibe permeates the entire album. Check it out!
