Joe Lynn Turner's career has had a number of highlights such as his successful run with Rainbow to his less than successful time with Deep Purple (although I loved Slaves and Masters) and Yngwie Malmsteen and his solo career, the New Jersey-born singer has carved out a pretty fine career of which the recent highlights have been part of the Frontiers project Sunstorm which thus far has produced three excellent records including the eponymous debut. I have seen some really sniffy reviews of Edge of Tomorrow and was worried that it wouldn't live up to the previous records which I very much enjoy.
Fortunately Edge of Tomorrow is a pretty solid if not exactly ground breaking album with a particularly strong title track which is slightly reminiscent of The Storm if fronted by JLT. With songs by Alessandro Del Vecchio (yep, him again) as well as Simone Mularoni, guitar player of Italian prog metallers DGM, Soren Kronqvist and Daniel Palmqvist, the chances of a complete dogs breakfast were always going to be slim and other than the sub-par "Nothing Left To Say" this is a worthy addition to Turner's impressive catalogue.
