Inspired by the likes of thrash metal titans Death Angel and heavy metal legends Judas Priest here we have the Canadian thrash metal and then some group called Mortillery. Mortillery now have a trio of potent metal albums to their name, that is with the release of the new and third no holds barred Mortillery album Shapeshifter. Mortillery's female vocalist Cara McCutchen certainly has the appropriate intense vocal style to scream up a storm, and along with that punishing energetic music they combine for a volatile metal brew. That unbridled metal rage soon appears and Mortillery don't forget to bring the hooks and melodies for that matter amongst the intensity of "Radiation Sickness". This band sure comes packing with that crushing metal shifting the tempo and powering forward on this explosive opener and through to closer "Shapeshifter" which sound like Iron Maiden ventured to the dark side. I have to say that the guitar and drum work on this album is also a large part of what makes it so good. Shapeshifter is a pummelling metal album with a constant stream of great tracks like "Black Friday" and "Wendigo" you simply can't go wrong.
