With a band name inspired by the popular and long running 80's horror movie series, and musical inspiration from that time including the New Wave of British Metal here we have the Aussie traditional metal group Elm Street. Elm Street now have a second full length album Knock 'Em Out... With A Metal Fist . The band formed in 2003 but it wasn't till 2011 that Elm Street actually released their first album Barbed Wire Metal, from which two songs were included in the soundtrack for the movie Deathgasm.
Elm Street are Ben Batres on vocals and rhythm guitar, lead guitarist Aaron Adie, Nick Ivkovic on the bass guitar and drummer Tomislav Perkovic. Their lively new album Knock 'Em Out... With A Metal Fist features a more experienced band one that have not only performed live in their home country of Australia, Elm Street have also had numerous tours of Europe, and ventured to the USA with the metal groups Accept, Iced Earth, Sepultura, Coroner, Tankard and Hammerfall. Music wise with fired up tracks like "Face The Reaper" Knock 'Em Out... With A Metal Fist is a potent and robust cocktail of dual guitar driven metal, there's even an epic track "Blood Diamiond" as the band gets more adventurous. While on the vocal front there are similarities to the likes of Children Of Bodom, as such this combination leaves Elm Street with a more aggressive style than most simliar sounding heavy metal bands. Knock 'Em Out... With A Metal Fist shows a band with a great deal of potential, whilst I'm not a fan of absoulutly everything on here there are songs that I do like a lot, and I'm sure it will be positively received by many a metal fan.
