Teksti-TV 666: 1, 2, 3
The title of this release is actually the titles of three EPs, released together for the first time. The individual EPs sold out a long time ago and this collection represents the first time all this music is available widely. In Teksti-TV 666's native Finland, the band is quickly gaining a reputation as a talented and colorful band, one that has sometimes 5, sometimes 6, electric guitars going at once.
The band's music mostly plays with contrary styles. The band's promo materials suggest that the music sounds as if Neu! were playing Ramones songs or as if Hellacopters were doing shoegaze. I also hear elements of 80s bands like Echo and the Bunnymen and The Jesus and Mary Chain. The harmonies and chord progressions here will especially resonate with fans of both bands, not to mention the dozens of other similar bands. Even though Teksti-TV 666 is reminiscent of other bands and other styles, the band doesn't simply reproduce the past. Instead, it takes these musical idioms and develops them into playful and engaging tracks.
