Eternal Idol: The Unrevealed Secret

Another debut album released via the prolific Frontiers label, Eternal Idol is the band put together via Rhapsody Of Fire and Angra singer Fabio Lione, together with the experienced Italian guitar player Nick Savio (ex Hollow Haze) and the line-up being completed by the young vocal rising star Giorgia Colleluori, Camillo Colleluori (both also from Hollow Haze) on drums and Andrea Buratto (Secret Sphere, Hell in the Club) on bass. Described as "an intriguing mix of classic metal, symphonic rock and a few progressive twists" this certainly ticks all of those boxes and fans of the dual female-male vocal combination will find much to appreciate here.

'Another Night Comes' is a cinematic and at times breathtaking power-metal romp to get things started and the rest of the album follows in a similar vein. The style of both vocalists is "clean" so thankfully there are no growls to go along with the operatic female lead and they complement each other well. Titles like 'Is The Answer Far From God' and 'Feels Like I'm Dying' offer a fair indication as to the lyrical direction and the darker tendencies weave well with the more melodic moments to offer the listener plenty of contrast between light and shade. Overall this makes for a promising debut album although with a lot of these European based metal projects sometimes the band members are all individually so busy that they don't seem to last very long. Nevertheless Eternal Idol would certainly appeal to fans of Kamelot and any of the aforementioned bands and The Unrevealed Secret is well worth checking out.
