Back in 1998, doom/sludge overlords Sleep released the critically acclaimed Dopesmoker, and then proceeded to practically disappear from the scene. In 2014, the band recorded the song "The Clarity" for digital release on the Adult Swim Singles Program, the first new Sleep music in nearly two decades. Southern Lord is now releasing this 9+ minute track as a 12" for those who missed out on the digital release a few years ago. In typical Sleep fashion, expect some monumental doom riffs and colossal grooves, sort of like a head on collision between Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, and Down, as waves of fuzz peek through the haze of smoke, resulting in total pleasure for any stoner metal or doom fan. We can only hope that this isn't the last we hear from this great band for another extended period of time.
