Seeker: Loss

The conclusion to "Welcome Death" says it all. The song, a pounding and angry reflection on death, ends with Bryce Lucien screaming "welcome death" over and over again. Although death is a common theme in extreme metal, this track is less a slip into nothingness or a raging against darkness and more just another reason to fight against everything. Seeker feeds on raw power and brings aggression and excruciating emotion to everything they do. The songwriting is a step forward for the band but there is less experimentation than there is just a greater amount of overall power. I enjoyed the slower quality of "Empty Vessel" and the raw power of "Welcome Death." This is a relatively short album but it packs a punch. Seeker is actually playing the whole thing on the road. Should make for a wild night.
