Man, where to start with this one...ok, Hell-P is the new album from the Finnish duo known as Pink Pussycats From Hell, who are comprised of Mighty Hunter (guitar, vocals), and
Danger Rabbit (drums, vocals), and to give you a visual, one guy wears a black ski mask with camouflage and the other a bunny mask & outfit. Sounds ridiculous right? Well, the music is just as odd, as the duo take influence from the MC5, The Stooges, and The Cramps, throw some silly lyrics into a garage rock framework and toss in terrible vocals and tired guitar riffs. There's absolutely nothing original to be found here, and though occasionally the band churns out a fun riff or two, the gravelly, guttural vocals are so bad that it's impossible to enjoy anything else. Most of the songs are brief and upbeat, "Hellbow" being a rare deviation as the duo slow down and crank up the fuzz for some meaty proto-punk/metal fun. Oh yeah, and all the song titles save one start with 'hell', further adding to the head shaking atmosphere. It's all a shame, as with "Hellvetica", Mighty Hunter shows he has some cool riffs up his sleeve, but they are few and far between. I can totally see a light at the end of the tunnel here, but my advice to the Pussycats is to skip the duo idea, get a vocalist who can actually sing, and try again.
