My Sleeping Karma: Mela Ananda—Live

I'm writing this at a point in life where I have so much to do that stress is a constant companion. At times, I just need to take a few moments to relax, gather my thoughts, and just breathe. This album, the title of which translates as "a gathering of bliss" may be just what I need. My Sleeping Karma has a solid reputation for melodic, powerful, playful and psychedelic music. This release, the band's first live album, gives listeners over an hour of excellent music drawn from the bands five studio albums. The selection is strong and I think any fan of this band will enjoy this album. I was especially drawn to "Prithvi," the heavy yet hypnotic track that kicks off the set. My favorite track is easily "Ephedra," another hypnotic piece that evokes a sense of peace and contentment. I also enjoyed "Enigma42," "Psilocybe," and "Hymn 72." Live albums can be hit or miss but My Sleeping Karma did a great job with this one. I've never caught them on the road but I'll be experiencing things vicariously with this album for a long time.
