Blood Divisions: Cardinal One

Founded by Chris Jericho (Fozzy, WWE), David Austin (Nasty Savage), and Ed Aborn (Intersonic Cyber Symphony), Blood Divisions features current and/or former members of bands such as Obituary, Death, Nasty Savage, Six Feet Under, Iced Earth, Deicide, Sebastian Bach, Massacre and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Blood Divisions is a collaborative project that donates ALL proceeds to charity and they are back with EP #2, Cardinal One (Metal Blade Records) that features a mixture of both classic Metal covers, as well as original material.

Cardinal One fuses the Tampa Thrash roots with a new energy and an enthusiastic re-do of classic Metal. Old Scorpions fave, "Top Of The Bill", gets a good ass kicking and the Michael Schenker era UFO staple, "Hot N Ready", employs not 1 but 5 lead guitar players that get to fulfill their inner Schenker lead guitar geekdom. "Hot N Ready" is easily a major standout, as is the Nasty Savage classic, "No Sympathy", which thrives under the modern day production and is heavy as hell.

Blood Division's Cardinal One is a balls to the wall EP that binds modern musical techniques with 70's Hard Rock/Heavy Metal sensibilities and 80's Thrash. Jericho's vocals are great throughout and the Prog-like original instrumental, "March of the Machine Elves" is also an unexpected treat. The fact that this project donates all proceeds from this EP to the Rock and Rescue, an organization that helps find homes for dogs, is an added bonus, but the record is pretty damn solid all on its own.
