Boston-based Replacire plays the guitar prodigy metal of Vinnie Moore and Tony MacAlpine in the 80's but includes the aggressive vocals of Morbid Angel in the 90's to create a powerful palette of hard-driving drums and bass coupled with speed-demon arpeggios. Standout tracks such as "Built Upon the Grave of He Who Bends," "Cold Repeater" and the title song "Do Not Deviate" bring to light how committed this band is on being more than just another good metal band influenced by guitar gods.
If you like your tunes balancing between brutal and brainy then rush to their record site and pick up their second release Do Not Deviate. This album is well thought out and has a musical maturity you won't expect from young upstarts. A number of the tracks have an ungloomy strangeness to them such as "Built Upon the Grave of He Who Bends" yet there is a bounce and bravado that produces a distinct personality for this project. You will not hear anything like these guys today even though they are unafraid to borrow from yesterday to make a new tomorrow.
