Radiation Romeos: Radiation Romeos

Radiation Romeos is a new band formed by vocalist Parramore McCarty, best known (hmmm…)for being the frontman of such legendary US metal acts Warrior and famed Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens' solo project, Atomic Playboys. Production for the eponymous album comes courtesy of Michael Voss (Phantom 5, Casanova, Michael Schenker), who also contributed to the songwriting. Dag Heyne plays guitars, Jogi Spittka is the bassist, and Gereon Homann bashes the drums. To be honest, I'm not feeling this one, even the best song, the eponymous one isn't up to much.

Often I really enjoy it when a band decides that the 1980s haven't ended, however, here we are looking at the kind of bands which meant that grunge kind of had to happen and I'm looking at you Dokken, Warrant etc. This is a shame as Parramore McCarty has an interesting raspy quality to his voice and on the better songs ("On the Tight Rope") it combines well with Dag Heyne's guitars but much of the album, especially the utterly execrable "Monstertraxx" (opening lines after the horrible pervy breathing, "Ooh, yeah, yeah, I've been creeping around in your neighbourhood, talk is cheap, it ain't lookin' so good,") just isn't up to the required standard. This one can safely be pooped into the bucket marked, Never Listen to Again.
