Circle of Time is the debut album from Coffeinne, a four-piece melodic/progressive/power metal band from Madrid, Spain, out now on Fighter Records. Though originally only released in Spanish and Japanese markets, Fighter is now making this very solid debut worldwide. Fans of European melodic power metal with a touch of proggy goodness will no doubt find much to love here, as songs such as "Fallen Angel", "Take This Live", and "Isolated" contain a wealth of flashy guitar riffs, acrobatic drumming, a smattering of keyboards, and the soaring vocals of Inaki Lazcano. More importantly, it's Coffeinne's (still not sure I'm digging the band name much) ability to write some instantly memorable hooks, which you can hear to full effect in "Save Me" (complete with the occasional death metal growl), the fist pumping anthem "Broken", the catchy yet heavy "Fragile", and the melodic & highly technical prog-metal opus "Circle of Time". You also get some speedy power metal on the manic "No Escape", showing the bands versatility, but for the most part, this is nicely crafted melodic metal with some serious musicianship and classic arrangements.
Looking for the next player on the European metal scene? Look no further than Coffeinne and their debut Circle of Time, a tasty collection of melodic metal songs reeking of majesty & class, with enough challenging passages to bring in the prog crowd for a glance. Recommended.
