Ramesses is a powerful metalcore trio. The guttural vocals are supplied by lead singer/bassist Adam Richardson. The music is metal, metal and a little more metal. I do not mean to make a joke at Ramesses expense, but this EP has little originality.
We Will Lead You to Glorious Times is an entertaining CD that boasts solid drumming (Mark Anthony Greening), power-chord guitar (Tim Bagshaw) and driving bass. The CD's 4 songs flow nicely and you get a good idea that these guys know what they are doing. But they aren't doing anything unique.
The 4 songs were recorded in a 24 hour monster jam session. I understand the cost of recording and studio time, but taking a little time to "enhance" the CD may have been called for.
Ramesses will appeal to those of you that can not get enough guttural, thrash metal, because odds are you own something real close to this already. I look forward to seeing what these guys do if Dark Reign Recordings gives them enough time to record a full length studio CD and a producer with some tricks up his sleeve.
