This exercise in white trash metal is intriguing in a stoner metal kinda way in the early-going, but the jokey nature and sub-Pepper Keenan-isms of the vocals wear thin somewhat quickly. At least these guys seem to be fully aware of what they are ("Dirtcore music for the hardliving, hard-working population") and don't have any grandiose visions about, well, having a "vision." I don't know--I can see where songs like "Bottom Feeders," "Allies," "Hit the Ground," and "Ass Crack Hotel" might make for great music in a live setting, in a bar full of stale cigarette smoke, sweat, and the stench of lukewarm Bud Light in the air. Maybe then, Boiler's a killer band. On CD, however, just not enough there to keep album-length interest.
