Tyketto: Live From Milan (CD/DVD/Blu-ray)

With a line-up comprised of founding members vocalist Danny Vaughn and drummer Michael Clayton Arbeeny along with guitarist and most-like-a-rock-star in the band Chris Green, bassist Chris Green and former TeN keyboard player Ged Rylands, Tyketto co-headlined Day 1 of Frontiers Rock Festival IV in, of all places, Milan. Somewhat against the grain the band decided not to play their classic debut album not front to back but back to front. One can only assume that decision was taken so that "Forever Young" didn't come too early and precipitate a mass exodus. Not that it should have because the current Tyketto are supremely tight and well worth staying around until the very end no matter what they play.

It could be argued that Don't Come Easy is all the Tyketto anyone could ever need – again that's not true but it is an exceptional album and here it is played with both gusto and precision. Foremost in Danny Vaughn's magnificent voice which has lost nothing over the years and a tremendous set of tunes which have never got the mainstream success they deserve. The newer songs, especially "Reach", are a nice addendum to an excellent aural experience and I'm sure the DVD/Blu-ray is just as good but it wasn't available for review.
