Clockwork Revolution formed in late 2015 and bring a mix classic heavy metal and more modern sounds to their brand new self-titled debut album. The band comprises of Wade Black (vocals), Dewayne Hart (guitars), Dirk Van Tilborg (bass) and Patrick Johansson (drums). These are four veteran musicians having played with the likes of W.A.S.P., Crimson Glory, Alias, Kamelot, Lynch Mob, Yngwie Malmsteen and many others.
Right from the opening track "Give Me The Reins" the metal comes fast and furious with rapid fire drums and guitar riffs having an old school classic sound. "Now I Know" has a bit more nuance with the slower sections subtly reminding me of Queensryche. Throughout the disc Black puts in a solid performance with his slightly gruff voice and powerful delivery. On "Fade Away" Black's vocals are a little more restrained although the tune still rocks pretty hard. The thick heavy riffs of "Heritage" is another solid metal track as is the revved up heaviness of "Monsanto", a really powerful tune. The potent drum work and shredding guitar in "Carnivore" and the tight rhythmic onslaught in "Endless" are more highlights.
Clockwork Revolution have made an impressive debut album. I think a lot of metal/hard rock fans will appreciate their nod to the classic style.
