Ice War: Ice War

This album was supposed to represent Jo Capitalicide letting loose on his own, free to explore his passion for old school heavy metal without any restraints. The idea was simply to indulge in metal that was heavy, catchy, and cheap, something fans might have enjoyed in 1981 just before thrash or speed metal took off. It's a decent album, but not an essential one. The music has a nice groove but much of it is repetitive and occasionally bland.

As some readers will know, this album comes out just as Capitalicide is getting some extra media attention. At first, the attention was quirky: his album with Zex was mistakenly pressed on a vinyl copy of Beyonce's Lemonade. Then things quickly shortly got worse. Within a day of the mispressing story, Gretchen Steele made allegations of sexual assault against Capitalicide, leading to his being dropped by Magic Bullet Records. Capitalicide is reportedly filing suit for defamation. I have no idea where this album fits into all this media attention but I suspect it will get lost in these larger problems.
