Chile's Lucifer's Hammer have done it once again, seemingly stepping out of a time capsule from 1983 and delivering another set of stunning, classic heavy metal in the form of their new EP Victory Is Mine. Containing just four semi-lengthy tracks, Victory Is Mine is a pulverizing aural assault, which kicks off with the galloping " The Valley of the Shadow of Death", a non-stop beast of intense drumming, potent vocals, and vintage styled metal riffs. "Thousand Nights (O.O.T.S.)" is slower paced, but no less powerful, the riffs absolutely crushing and the arrangement addicting. At over 7-minutes, this one never gets boring, with once exciting passage after another just showering the listener with pure heavy metal bliss. This is how a metal epic is created folks! "Warriors of the Storm" follows, a brooding number that reminds of Iron Maiden's early material, the drumming acrobatic, the guitar riffs inventive, and the bass lurching, the bands ability to drop in dark atmospheric passages amid the more frantic sections is extremely well done. Closing things out is "The Destroyer", a doom laden 'destroyer' with some seriously fuzz-soaked riffs and distant vocals, showing another side to this completely lethal band.
Shadow Kingdom Records always seem to have a knack for finding the best undergrounds bands for their roster, and the trio known as Lucifer's Hammer have been one of the standouts for them the last few years. Victory Is Mine will easily continue that trend!
