Niviane are a new name to me and I suspect to many of you so let's get the facts shall we? Niviane is an American power metal band hailing from Sacramento California formed in autumn 2014. The band's claiming to be, "A new breed of American Power Metal". Hmmm. The band's debut album was recorded at Alien Production Studios in California, with JK Northrup producing – eleven tracks of what their record company (the always worthwhile Pitch Black Records out of Cyprus) describe as, "pure heavy epic power metal with dual lead guitar attacks."
One of the problems with today's music is that basically it's all been pretty much done before and ultimately given the subjective nature of artistic endeavours like or dislike is really down to the individual. I like The Druid King but I don't love it. "A new breed of American Power Metal", is a laughable claim. A better one would be, "it's good but it won't change your life." There are riffs aplenty even if many of them seem as if they would fit nicely on an Iced Earth album – nothing wrong with that, Mark Miner and Gary Tarplee weave some pleasing guitar patterns and Norman Skinner gives his all vocally so my advice to you is to seek out clips and the free download from Pitch Black's soundcloud to see if this is the power metal you are looking for.
