Monolith Cult: Gospel of Despair

Gospel of Despair is the brand new Transcending release from UK epic doom metal act Monolith Cult. These guys have been crushing it since 2012, and the creative juices are flowing more than ever here on their new platter of doom menace. Just listen to those massive riffs on "Disconnection Syndrome" and the monolithic title cut, obliterating everything in their path while vocalist Bry Outlaw just soars over the top with a style that is part Tom Englund (Evergrey) and part the late Warrel Dane (Nevermore, Sanctuary). Citing influences as Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Entombed, Goatsnake, Rainbow, Dio, and Deep Purple, you can tell this band comes from good stock, and it comes through in every note on Gospel of Despair. I dare anyone to resist banging their head to the epic sounds of "Kings Of All That's Lost" or the chugging stomp of "Sympathy For the Living", and the killer riff attack of "Death Means Nothing" is as glorious as doom metal gets folks.

With just about every song on Gospel of Despair clocking in between 5-8 minutes, the band have ample time to kick your ass and build up some seriously dark atmosphere. Top to bottom, this is a very strong album, Monolith Cult creating one of 2017's more compelling doom releases. Do not miss this one!
