Cynabare Urne are a death metal duo from Finland comprised of Jani Koskela (Guitar & Vocals) and
Sameli Köykkä (Drums & Bass guitar), who are releasing their new four song EP In the Cremation Ground on Helter Skelter / Regain Records. Give these guys credit for doing this completely old school-there's no deathcore or anything remotely ultra modern here, just crushing late '80s/early '90s vintage styled death metal. That being said, these four tracks might not be the most invigorating selection of death metal tunes you'll hear this year, but there's no denying the brutal stomp of "Conquisitadors of Death" , the rampaging nature of "Ereshkigal", and the boiling, stampeding blast-beat driven "Shmashana Sadhana". The best tune is saved for last, the snarling "Martyrs in a Deathless World", which is chock full of evil vocals and some of the best riffs on the EP. Those looking for some tasty death metal from the underground would be well advised to look into this Finnish duo, and my guess is we'll be hearing much more from them in the not too distant future.
