Swedish heavy metal act Candle are presenting here the follow-up to their debut demo EP, their first full length release for Fighter Records, titled The Keeper's Curse. Once you get past the creepy, organ drenched instrumental opener, the band launch into eight tracks of epic heavy metal bombast, firmly in the spirit of the early '80s US and European metal scenes, with influences ranging from Mercyful Fate, Omen, Cirith Ungol, Satan, Iron Maiden, Trouble, Candlemass, Fates Warning, and Savatage. Mid-range & high pitched vocals soar over a non-stop cavalcade of crunchy riffs and dynamic drumming on successful songs such as "Light at the End", "Frozen With Fear", "Betrayal", and the tumultuous "Embraced By Darkness", with twin guitar harmonies adding that extra special touch to give them even more of a classic feel. "No Peace For My Soul" rampages along with mid-70's Judas Priest styled venom, and lengthy closer "Vengeance" might just be the heaviest one of the lot, with some killer riffs that hit hard & often.
The Keeper's Curse is ultimately a fun throwback to classic heavy metal sounds by a young band that appear to have a bright future ahead of them. Don't miss this one!
