Carnival Days is the sophomore release from young Finnish hard rockers Shiraz Lane, who now find themselves on, where else, Frontiers Records. Firmly rooted in the commercial hard rock sounds of the late 1980's, Shiraz Lane have digested all the obvious influences like Guns 'n' Roses, Motley Crue, Crazy Lixx, Santa Cruz, Crashdiet, Cinderella, Aerosmith, Brother Firetribe, Hanoi Rocks, and Europe, delivering a fun album brimming with plenty of hooks and raunchy guitar work. Singer Hannes Kett pushes all the right buttons, his high pitched vocals soaring over the top of party anthems like "The Crown", "Harder to Breathe", "People Like Us", and the addicting title track, the latter throwing in some sizzling sax solos to combat the guitar licks. The ladies will love the ballady "Gotta Be Real", "Hope", and "Shangri-La", while those looking for some hard rock guitar firepower will certainly enjoy the muscular "Tidal Wave" and "War of Mine", two tunes driven by the fine skills of guitarists Jani Laine & Miki Kalske.
If you are looking to take a trip back to 1987, Carnival Days will be a lot of fun and provide plenty of ear candy for you.
