Lion Music has consistently been putting out excellent instrumental rock and metal CDs. So I was a little surprised to receive Metal Majesty's new CD 2005. The second surprise was in the fact that although Metal Majesty's roots are in Metal, this is far from a Metal CD. The opening track "We Rocked" has a distinct UFO feel.
Actually, most of the CD has a feel you have heard before. "Burying Heather" has this Beatles Eleanor Rigby string line through it, "Ready to Roar" is a Van Halen imitation, and "Love Will Make You Bleed" has a distinct 80s MTV feel to it. So is all this allusion to other artists good or bad? In the case of Metal Majesty's, it is definitely good.
2005 is a CD that is easily accessible, you feel you know it from the first listen. But after several spins, I am seeing Valensia's signature all over the place. This CD is melodic and has a pop-tinge, but it still rocks. Metal Majesty's is highly recommended for fans of accessible metal.
