Crosson: Invincible
Crosson are an Australian based band that are self described as being "Futuristic Theatrical Rock Warriors" and their brand of 80's styled Hard Rock is made up of spandex laden, anthemic type Rock anthems with loud guitars. Invincible is Crosson's 4th installment of their Steel Panther-ish type of Cock Rock, that might be fan friendly to followers of Pretty Boy Floyd, 80's KISS, The Darkness or late 80's Motley Crue.
Invincible and Crosson are very much steeped in the 80's and unfortunately NOT the good parts of the 80's, be it from their look or their cheesy tunes. Choruses are catchy, but the songs overall fall quite flat and are pretty forgettable. Song titles like the album opener, "Rock Warriors" clearly transport you back to the bad bits of the L.A. Sunset Strip and all of the pomp and circumstance of bad bands that ruined that era. Vocals are average at best and songs like "Back To Hell" and the afore mentioned "Rock Warriors" with it's stellar lyric of, "You got me rockin' all night, rollin' all day...we're the Rock....Rock... Warriors" should give you an indication of the prowess that lies within this 10 track record.
I was never sure whether to laugh at Crosson or to take this record seriously, but either way I found it to be pretty awful. If it were 1986, this would still be not so good. The songs are cheesy, but not in a good way, they are just very good and I would never find myself ever listening to this record again. The album artwork should explain everything that you need to know. I'll pass and so should you!
