Fans of vintage Tangerine Dream will most certainly want to get their hands on Node Live, the brand new live album from the electronic/ambient supergroup Node. Recorded at a rare concert in London's Royal College of Music back in 2015, Node Live contains edits of four tracks that were played that evening, as well as a bonus rehearsal track that was recorded prior to the concert. For the performance, the band features:
Dave Bessell- guitar and modulars
Ed Buller- sequencing and modulars
Flood- Basso Profundo and modulars
Mel Wesson - VCS3, PPG and modulars
With their collection of modern and vintage modular synthesizers, the four piece create a huge wall of electrified sound, loops, blips, and beeps that cascade over the listener, occasional lead melody lines cutting through the dense but lovely fog of spacey ambience. "Shinkansen North" just sweeps you away with its futuristic grandeur, while "Arrival" has a haunting yet tranquil quality that's hard to resist, the sequencers zipping in and out of the mix like spaceships flying through space in search of a new home.
Berlin electronic music lovers will be well advised to seek this one out at all costs. It's limited to 2000 copies so hurry while supplies last.
