Metalville Records are proud to release Settle Your Scores, the brand new release from Hildesheim hard rock act Hound, a young band comprised of Wanja Neite (Vocals), Nando Grujic (Guitar), Jonas Gehlen (Organ), Yannick Aderb (Bass), John Senft (Drums). Much like what Greta Van Fleet have done with the classic Led Zeppelin sound, Hound take their cue from In Rock, Fireball, and Machine Head era Deep Purple, steamrolling through a dozen tracks chock full of blistering Hammond organ & guitar interplay and powerful vocals.
Images of Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore pop up right from the outset on the rampaging 1-2-3 shot of "Not So Long Ago", "Jim Vance" and the metallic "The Perilous Realm". Neite has a potent upper register shriek, a perfect fit for these boisterous guitar riffs and nimble organ jaunts, but also shows his more gentle, bluesy swagger on the atmospheric "Cursed Place". "Thoughts & Prayers" is just terrific, a classic sounding headbanger with delicious guitar/organ riffs that wouldn't have sounded out of place on In Rock, while "The Poacher" is snarling & venomous with more than a nod to Thin Lizzy in the riff. Settle Your Score's longest track is "The Secret Commonwealth", and it's also its bluesiest, Grujic laying down some tasty guitar solos alongside an equally gorgeous Hammond excursion from Gehlen. Other highlights here include the barnstorming "Grit" (HEAVY), the prog-meets-blues of "Flesh & Bone", and the shuffling hard rock gem that is the fist pumping title cut.
Outstanding on so many levels, Settle Your Scores is a '70s styled hard rock album not to be missed. This is a young band with a very bright future ahead of them, and I'll be watching them very closely going forward.
