Stone Deaf: Royal Burnout

This is the kind of album you need on a long road trip, especially when the highways are quiet and the night is long. Stone Deaf’s main strength comes from creating healthy beats that support a blend of heavy rock and sludge /doom. Some of the music will probably sound familiar; the band has a knack for creating songs that draw on the strengths of Thin Lizzy, Kyuss, Corrosion of Conformity, and others. I hear more rock than punk but things are generally raw enough to go either way. These guys definitely aren’t reinventing rock and roll, but they are providing listeners with a soundtrack for those moments when you just need to jam. Check out “Spitshine” and “Deathwish 62.”
