Kissin’ Dynamite: Ecstasy
I love reviewing progressive metal acts and big symphonic blasting multi-player groups. But it is nice once in a while to listen to straight ahead no-frills rock and roll. No codes or concepts or even weird creativity just enough power to light up the roadside club and knock a few back. That’s what I would call Kissin’ Dynamite. Your classic stripped-down rock act giving their all as with the opening track “I’ve Got the Fire.” A stand-up by-the-numbers no big surprises song that hits everything you want while driving home after work. It’s the “I don’t wanna think, I wanna rock” attitude that moves these guys. And I’m a fan after one track.
With “You’re Not Alone” they meld a quasi-Type O Negative vocal with clever harmonies and a great melody that makes you want to listen to more. “Somebody’s Gotta Do It” is solid blues-based song structure executed with the confidence of a group that lives more for the now than for the rehearsal. It’s a super track and I’m bouncing my head with this keyboard. The title track “Ecstasy” is a fast tempo anthem rocker which does a fine job of showcasing the skills of the individual player. The guitar player get to shoot off a nice solo and the drummer is beating those skins till the cows come home.
Mid-album brings “Superhuman” is Bon Jovi influenced story-tale that succeeds to telling the story and setting the stadium seats on fire with a great guitar work and strong backup singing. The heaviest track thus far is “Breaking the Silence” (apt title) a Motorhead hybrid I swear Lemmy (RIP) would have sung if he had more range than a box of cigars. If I had any say I’d say make this one your single. Its fun, hardcore and definitely will convince the doubters that you guys can rock with anyone out there. I’m a believer. Listen to this band and you will believe too!
