In what can’t come as much of a shock to anyone, II is the follow up to I which came out on Svart Records in 2015. I gave I a big four stars which I replicate here again although I think I slightly prefer II. II is arguably less eclectic than its predecessor and certainly for the first couple of tracks is more mainstream. "Belladonna" bounces along like a particularly roided up puppy, however, just when you think as a listener you’ve got things sussed along comes the off kilter "The Things You Do" with its Doorsy keyboards and purposeful basslines - it’s all very hypnotic if slightly rockier than on the previous album.
Sadly main man Thomas Corpse has said that with everything now being rosy within the day job band Jess and the Ancient Ones, The Exploding Eyes Orchestra has served its purpose and will now be laid to rest. They leave behind two fine albums.
