Necronomicon: Unleashed Bastards
Since I’ve reviewed another band named Necronomicon on this site, I want to clarify that this album is by the German thrash band that has enjoyed cult status since the early 1980s. Necronomicon has always been terrific, but this album has everything you’d want from a classic thrash band. Some thrash bands lose their edge, but Necronomicon knows what makes a good thrash band. They are consistently tight, fast, and aggressive. The music on this album has some of the best musical energy I’ve heard lately. I was especially blown away by the first two tracks, “Burn and Fall” and “Leave the Lights On.” Both tracks are superb thrash pieces and make as good an impression as you could ever want. There is some variety here and there on this album, but if you already like Necronomicon, you are here for thrash"and that is what they give you. I highly recommend the first two tracks, but don’t stop with those two. There’s nearly an hour’s worth of thrash here. If you like thrash metal, this album is a must.
