Insanity Alert: 666-Pack
This is a playful album that mixes punk rock, thrash, humor, and darkness. Even though the musicianship is consistently strong, this is not music for the overly serious listener. Instead, this is for listeners that want to laugh at everything from black metal to disco to Slayer. There’s even a nod to Milli Vanilli here! Fans of bands like SOD, DRI, Suicidal Tendencies, Nuclear Assault, and Municipal Waste will catch on quickly, especially when they hear tracks like “The Ballad of Slayer” or “Stop….Slammertime,” the two funniest tracks on here. I also loved “Saturday Grind Fever,” the disco parody I didn’t know I needed. For those looking for a little more substance (at least in terms of songwriting), check out “Echoes of Death,” “Dark Energon,” or “Cobra Commander.” If you like classic punk rock that makes you “Mosh Mosh Mosh,” this is the album for you.
