Pendulum Of Fortune: Return To Eden

From the idea of drummer Bodo Schopf (Michael Schenker Group, The Sweet, Falco) after he met singer David Readman (Pink Cream 69, Voodoo Circle, Almanac, Tank) in 2011, the seeds of Pendulum Of Fortune were born. Return To Eden is the second release from Pendulum Of Fortune with their mix of Traditional Metal with Melodic Hard and Bluesy Rock.

Return To Eden contains 14 songs that range from 70’s Classic Rock (think Deep Purple) and a cover of the Emerson, Lake & Palmer hit, “Lucky Man”, to a Metal Neo Classical homage with the instrumental, “Rockanini”, where Russian guitarist, Vladimir Shevyakov, gets to let his inner Yngwie loose. More in the middle are Hard Rock tunes that side on the Bluesy side of things with Readman’s soulful vocal approach, which is quite evident on songs like “Diamond In The Rough”, “Skin And Bones” and the title track, “Return To Eden”. Pendulum Of Fortune have delivered a fairly solid release with Return To Eden. Performances all around are good, but I found the whole package a tad on the, “not holding my attention” tip. Nothing really stands out and grabs your attention, it’s just there in the background, really. There are some glimpses of guitar firepower that get your attention, but I found the songs to sort of blend into one another without much attention grabbing.
