Twenty year old Christone Ingram, otherwise known by his nickname 'Kingfish', finally releases his debut studio album, simply called Kingfish, a few years after appearing all over the place and being whispered as the 'next big thing' in the world of young blues guitar players. This youngster from Mississippi has all the guitar chops and the vocal prowess of someone 20 years his senior, which you can plainly hear on this new 12 track offering that features some stellar musicians and guest stars to help deliver the goods.
Kingfish's commanding tone and blazing chops are in fine form on the sizzling blues rock opener "Outside of This Town", and the young guitar stud shares lead guitar & vocals with his friend & mentor Buddy Guy on the blues raveup "Fresh Out". Plenty of other fiery tunes follow, such as the stomping "It Ain't Right", the deft Mississippi delta blues acoustic tones of "Been Here Before", the scorching slow electrified blues of "Love Ain't My Favorite Word" (featuring some of his most inspired lead guitar work on the album), and the upbeat shuffle of "Trouble". Whether you like slow electric blues, acoustic delta blues, or sizzling blues rock, it's all here, rich with Kingfish's tasty guitar work and potent vocals.
