When you put together the angelic vocals of Dyanne Potter Voegtlin and Renaissance's Annie Haslam, magic is bound to happen. Blood and Water is the new single from art rock/pop band Potter's Daughter, which features Dyanne on lead vocals & keyboards, Amit Chatterjee on guitar, Walter Sitz on drums, Randy Crafton on percussion, and Ian C. Voegtlin on guitar & ewi. Adding the legendary Haslam to the proceedings here was a great call, as her trademark vocal style works wonders alongside the equally gorgeous delivery of Potter Voegtlin. "Blood and Water" has a Celtic flair, mixed with a pop sensibility and prog-rock elements, thanks to some beautiful piano & keyboard textures as well as muscular guitar solos. Dyanne & Annie's vocals weave and float around each other quite nicely, the dreamy vocal passages lift the soul while the musical arrangement touches the prog lover in us all. The CD or vinyl maxi single both content an alternate version of the song, which is more of a stripped down version of the tune featuring just piano and vocals minus the guitar, drums, and percussion.
Nicely done folks!
