Now on their second release for Frontiers Records, supergroup/project The Ferrymen, who are comprised of Swedish guitarist/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear), vocalist Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, CoreLeoni), and drummer Mike Terrana (Rage, Axel Rudi Pell, Artension, and others), once again bring their A-game to A New Evil, their brand new platter of melodic hard rock & metal, which contains eleven new tracks of catchy, heavy music.
"Don't Stand In My Way" pulls the listener in right from the start, a chugging, heavy piece featuring Romero's commending pipes and plenty of guitar firepower courtesy of Karlsson. The guitarist also contributes bass & keyboards to the album, his symphonic keys adding an orchestral flair to the dramatic, anthemic "My Darkest Fear" alongside Ronnie's stellar vocal delivery and Karlsson's own jaw-dropping guitar solo. Steadfast traditional/power metal fans will love the steamrolling crunch of both "The Night People Rise" and "Heartbeat", while hook-laden cuts such as "Save Your Prayers", "Bring Me Home", and the title track provide plenty to love for anyone into classic '80s styled melodic hard rock. Like stuff more on the prog side of town? Look no further than "Our Own Heroes", chock full of keys, guitars, soaring vocals, and Terrana's insanely intricate drumming.
One look at that awesome cover art from Stan W. Decker and you just know that classy metal will be in store for you on A New Evil. Great stuff from start to finish, this album shows The Ferrymen proving to be every bit the all-star configuration they are on paper.
