I'm trying to decide if the term NICE is a compliment or not. Because "nice" is the word that keeps coming to mind when I listen to Gary Paul Bryant's new piano CD Imaginary Piano. This CD is nice. It is basically new-age, classical tinged jazz-pop that is played well and composed in a way to keep it interesting. It isn't earth-shattering, progressive, unique or unusual. It is nice.
Bryant does a good job of writing uplifting music that blends his piano playing with the score he has written. The keyboards are prominent without being extreme. The songs go from slow jazz to slow new age. The foot doesn't ever tap very quickly.
Imaginary Piano is recommended for fans of classical piano or light jazz. The songs are written well and the music is fresh. Overall, the feeling the CD leaves you with is: NICE.
