A metal export from Bangalore, India, Kryptos have made enough of a name for themselves to warrant a a deal with AFM Records, tours with Wolf, Katatonia and Testament, and their own Wikipedia page. Afterburner, the trio’s fifth album, is rooted in the old-school thrash and traditional heavy metal that elevated the likes of Kreator and Judas Priest to vaunted levels. Kryptos aren’t quite in that league yet, but the eight songs on this album should please fans who like their metal fast, loud and without compromise.
Extra kudos for the melodic guitar solos (courtesy of Rohit Chaturvedi), robust production and album dedication to AC/DC’s Malcolm Young, Motorhead’s “Fast” Eddie Clarke and Nevermore’s Warrel Dane.
