The Mojo Castle Sessions is the follow-up to 2012's Wildman, from Nightrider drummer Brent 'Wildman' Enman, as he basically does it all here once again, tackling all the instruments and lead vocals for another fun hard rocking affair. Obviously his main dojo is the drums, but you'll be quite surprised at how capable of a guitarist he is as well, laying down some crunchy riffing and scorching leads on tracks such as "A Few Good Licks", "I'm Gonna Rock You", and "Girl With the Runaway Heart". The energetic "Runaround" rocks hard with a Montrose-meets'Riot intensity, and it's not hard to see where Brent's main band Nightrider get some of their mojo from after hearing this barnburner. Intricate drum patterns and some nifty guitar & bass licks permeate the fun instrumental "The 'TC' Groove", which has a funky, almost Pat Travers feel to it, and allows Enman show off his formidable chops on multiple instruments
Though The Mojo Castle Sessions has a very early '80s feel to it and production qualities that comes across almost like a home demo, that's part of the charm here. Kudos to Brent Enman for putting together an honest and fun throwback hard rock album, and he did it all himself!
