Robert Jon & The Wreck: Last Light on the Highway

Though they hail from California, Robert Jon & The Wreck have been one of the bright spots on the modern Southern Rock/Country/Blues Rock scene since 2011, and their new album Last Night on the Highway is sure to help their stock rise even higher. Bright, catchy, anthemic, and with plenty of soul to go along with strong vocals and sizzling guitar licks, Last Night on the Highway is easy to recommend to any fan of the Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and especially Zac Brown Band. Instantly memorable tracks such as "Tired of Drinking Alone", "Oh Miss Carolina", and "Work It Out" contain some perfectly layered lead & backing vocals, piano, organ, and a non-stop barrage of sizzling lead & slide guitars, and those tasty twin guitars of "Do You Remember" will have you remembering the glory days of Duane Allman & Dickie Betts all those years ago. "Don't Let Me Go" snarls like vintage Black Crowes, while the two part closing title track features some excellent acoustic picking and leader Robert Jon Burrison's emotional vocals, punctuated by a scorching lead guitar solo courtesy of Henry James and big, orchestral keyboard & piano swells. It's the bands prog-rock moment on the album, and sure to be a crowd pleaser live.

Chances are Robert Jon & The Wreck won't be Southern Rock's best kept secret for long. Easily as talented as the popular Blackberry Smoke, this is memorable, hook laden feel-good music chock full of serious playing and incredible vocals. Check it out!
