Unquiet Music Ltd: In The Name Of… (A Prayer For Our Times)

I’m glad that I live in a world where music and sound art like this are a reality. So much detail, a lifetime of creativity incorporated into an insane long-form opus. This is the musical place where ideas and idealism meet. You all should treat it with respect.

Markus Reuter

Unquiet Music Ltd is a project and company formed by JP. Rossi in 2020. The album is titled In The Name Of… (A Prayer For Our Times) and is as enigmatic as the project's name. This is not so much a set of eleven songs as it is an all-encompassing immersive experience in sound dynamics and avant-garde artforms. Musically, the project takes influences of artists like Brian Eno, Robert Fripp and many others, puts them in a blender and in the process has created one of the more unusual albums I have heard this year. Taking elements of electronic, progressive rock, ambient, avant-garde, and likely more I haven’t discerned, the album plays like a mysterious and utterly alien-esque listening experience. Breaking down individual tracks is really not what this review is about as this needs to be listened to in one sitting, letting the otherworldliness wash over your ears. For those into the soundscapes of Markus Reuter and Trey Gunn, both appear here and there are plenty of cool guitar sounds to absorb.

Sure, this is a weird album, but damn if it doesn’t make an impact long after the music stops. Take a chance and listen for yourself.
