As a stopgap to their next full-length album, AFM Records & symphonic power metal veterans Rhapsody of Fire have unleashed this brief EP that shows off their new single "I'll Be Your Hero", along with a few other tidbits as we await the second part of the trilogy that started with 2019's The Eighth Mountain. Along with "I'll Be Your Hero", which is your typical RoF big, sweeping anthem, littered with passionate vocals, hooks, plenty of orchestral keys, and blazing neo-classical guitars, you also get a re-recording of the emotional "Where Dragons Fly" (originally a Japan only bonus track), furious live versions of "Rain of Fury" and "The Courage to Forgive", and four versions of the ballad "The Wind, The Rain and the Moon", sung in English, Italian, Spanish, and French. Producer/keyboard maestro Alex Staropoli is the star of the show as always, his symphonic synths all over every track here, alongside the outstanding vocals of Giacomo Voli, Roby Di Micheli's shredding guitars, and the rhythm section of bassist Allessando Sala and drummer Paolo Marchesich. A fun listen, but now, bring on the next chapter...
