Void Vator: Great Fear Rising

On March 15, 2020, American metal band Void Vator had to cut there North American tour short due to the pandemic. Everyone has been affected but one good thing came out of it for the band as they were able to finish recording their new album titled Great Fear Rising, the follow up to their 2019 debut Stranded.

This is my first delve into the band’s music which has that old school metal feel, Judas Priest is one band that came to mind almost immediately. Powerful riffs, a pummelling rhythm section and robust lead vocals is what makes this a high quality metal band. I really can’t say enough of the excellent guitar and vocals and the melodies will drive these nine tunes straight into your head, refusing to let go anytime soon.

The disc begins with the first single “I Can’t Take It”, a powerful straight ahead rocker with pummelling drums and heavy shards of guitar, recalling the mighty Priest in their heyday. The riffs are catchy as are the excellent lead vocals. “I Want More” is another pedal to the metal scorcher with burning guitar and melodic riffs. The vocals in “There’s Something Wrong With Us”, both lead and backing, will have you hitting the repeat button and in the chugging “Losing Control”, the powerful riffs and catchy chorus should leave a lasting impression. The title track is another highlight with its moody edges and marching drums, preparing for the battlefield that has been bloodied by corruption and greed.

Great Fear Rising is another winner as Void Vator join Ripple Music’s excellent roster of bands. Highly recommended for all metal fans near and far.
