German metal with a vengeance. That’s what you get with Unforged, a band that delivers vicious and hard-hitting songs with titles like “Serial Killer,” “Eye for An Eye,” “Antihero” and “Fight For Your Life.” These dudes are not for the weak of heart, yet they still manage to groove with melody. Clean vocals mix with harsh shouts and relentless rawness. Think Slipknot, Pantera and even early Metallica.
The lyrics are brutal, and they comprise a concept album of sorts about a man who craves to kill while also desperate for love: “Four fucking cops/waiting in my trunk/Three fucking cops/Piled up as junk/Two fucking cops/Never been found/One fucking cop/Lays on the ground (from opening cut “Serial Killer”) and “Scream for me/I swallowed the sin of your mistakes/Scream for me/It is much more, much more than I can take” (from, you guessed it, “Scream for Me”).
Good thing this album’s running time doesn’t go past 40 minutes; if it were any longer, you might feel as if you’ve been chewed up and spit out.
