Re-Machined: Brain Dead

Re-Machined are a German Hard rock/ Heavy metal band that are gearing up to release their 2nd album Brain Dead via German Heavy Metal label Pride & Joy Music.

Re-Machined play 80’s style metal-I hear influences from the likes of AC/DC and early Judas Priest. It's nostalgic, but this isn’t a new band formed by younger guys looking to be nostalgic for the sake of it. Re-Machined strike me as a band consisting of guys of that vintage, playing hard rock music as they know and love it.

This album isn’t breaking new ground or going to blow you away with its musicianship, but it’s solid from top to bottom and executed well enough to keep me engaged. Take a look at the track listing and you’ll get an indication of the no nonsense sort of approach that the band take. Almost every track has a chuggy riff that makes you nod along, and a memorable melodic chorus-what more do you want from this sort of music?!

Vocalist Thomas Ritter has a bit of Brian Johnson about his vocal style and the duel guitars of Horst Pflaumer and Andreas Glanz play chunky riffs and decent leads -whilst their lead work isn’t jaw dropping in a technical sense, it complements the songs nicely.

My favourite tracks from the release are "Raise Some Hell", "Brain Dead", and "Demons". All of the songs on the album strike me to be the sort of stuff that would be fun to see live, preferably in a German field with a Beer in one hand, fist banging along in the other.

Before taking on this review I’d never heard of Re-Machined, and judging by a relatively modest ‘like count’ on Facebook I’m not alone -hopefully this new album will open a few more doors for the band. Brain Dead is worth checking out if you’re a fan of old school Hard Rock with a metallic edge.
