Spiral Grave: Legacy Of The Anointed
The rage is palpable in Baltimore, Maryland based Spiral Grave’s third album titled Legacy Of The Anointed, a brutal assault on the senses. This is some heavy stuff as the riffs will pummel you senseless, and the band makes sure there is no place to run. “Nightmare On May Eve (Dunwich Pt.1 )” kicks off the ditsc with huge doomy guitar riffs imbedded in a sludgy soundscape with the vocals powerful and intense, almost guttural in nature. The vocals will not be for everyone but there is no doubting the vehemence and anger. With “Modern-Day Golden Calf” the band belts out traditional doom metal, complete withy feedback and a wicked guitar solo. The onslaught continues with “Out Of My Head”, the slower groove sounding down right evil. The band doesn’t let up through the disc’s eight tracks, making this one of the heaviest albums I have heard in a while.
If heavy doom is in your wheel house and you like your music with more than a touch of anger, by all means check out this Baltimore foursome. They certainly leave nothing on the table.
An Argonauta Records release.
