Manic Sinners’ are a Romanian melodic metal band. They’re set to release their debut album, King of the Badlands via Frontiers Music Srl.
Adrian Igrisan (Keyboards/ Drums) is a key contributor and is best known as the singer and guitarist of Cargo. He has been knighted by the Romanian President for his cultural merits so is certainly well credentialed. Vocalist Ovidiu Anton is a previous winner of the Eurovision Song Contest National Selection (2016). Guitar/Bass duties are handled by Toni Dijmarescu; a well-respected live and studio musician. With this level of experience in the line-up you can’t help but approach the King of the Badlands with higher expectations that you might otherwise approach a band’s debut.
The album is 12 tracks of well-crafted hard rock / heavy metal, with a classic AOR/80s vibe. It has everything that you want to hear on this sort of album; Strong vocals, solid guitar work and hooks aplenty. The album certainly doesn’t sound like a debut album; there is a maturity and polish the performances and overall offering.
It’s a good release, albeit not my favourite style of music which is the reason for the 2.5 star rating. If nostalgic hard rock / melodic metal is something you’re into you could do far worse than give this this album a go.
