Abraham: Debris de Mondes Perdus
Abraham is a Swiss metal act. Their latest album is entitled Debris de Mondes Perdus (rough translation to English is Debris of lost worlds).
I wasn’t familiar with Abraham prior to receiving this album for review, however I’m impressed by what the bad have to offer. I get vibes of Neurosis and The Ocean in their bleak post-metal stylings. The album is abrasive and aggressive generally but has some sombre moments too.
The tracks are well crafted, and the instrumentation is quality. The vocals are delivered with notable feeling whether they are screamed, shouted or sung. To listen to only one track on this album would be selling the release short. I feel as though the sum of the parts is stronger than any individual track, and no doubt If you were to listen to only the first couple of tracks you wouldn’t have taken in the full range or depth of what the album has to offer. Tracks like "Celestial Funeral" or the dirge-like "Maudissements" are my favorites alongside the closing track "Black Breath", which is arguably the most memorable on the release.
If you’re a fan of music that has palpable rage in its delivery, you could do far worse than give this album a spin. A gem from the Swiss undergound.
